Company Creation Festival
What is it?
Company Creation Festival (CCF) is a festival of new works generated by ensembles using unconventional means. Four productions are presented in repertory over four weeks, through January and February. Projects are selected through a written application. Each selected production receives 5 performances, staff support, and the opportunity to earn an honorarium based on ticket sales.
What We’re Looking For
We want to give you the time, space, and resources to really sink your teeth into a project that excites you as a company. We welcome projects in every stage of development, from ideas for pieces that you plan to create in rehearsal to plays you’ve been workshopping with a playwright for years. Here’s what gets us excited:
Adventurous work created collaboratively, especially if your process is unusual or experimental in any way
The ability to do a lot with a little, visually speaking. You’ll be performing in rep, so you’ll be working with limited load-in and strike time, but we encourage participants not to default to using a blank stage with a single chair. Past participants have found a lot of wonderful ways to transform the space and create something gorgeous for the audience.
Stand-alone projects with dedicated artistic teams
Artists who are strongly committed to supporting the greater theatrical community and are excited to perform in a repertory environment
Past participants
CCF has supported over 20 different ensembles since its founding in 2010. Past participants have included Psittacus Productions, Poor Dog Group, Rook Theater, MaiM Theatre Company, Drive Theater Company, and more.
