Iphigenia crash lands!

What an exciting experience this has been. SOSE being in a new, larger space for the first time since 2002's "Animal Farm" is refreshing. The ambitious nature of our production of "IPHIGENIA Crash Land Falls On The Neon Shell That Was Once Her Heart" is nothing short of SOSE passion and will prove to be a very unique and powerful piece. Technically, this is definitely the most complicated production SOSE has done to date. For me in my individual career... only a few other pieces have incorporated more technical aspects than this one. (But those were with companies that had been much more established than our little theatre company.) Our little 27-member / AEA 99-Seat / 6-year old company continues to grow and stretch and strive to make great art. This piece's original driving passion and vision is owed to our Artistic Director/Director of the play, Matthew McCray. Even when many of us thought the piece was too difficult, too technically complicated, too ambitious, he pushed forward and made this creative vision come to fruition. Kudos to you Matt! And kudos to Jeremy Gabriel as Casting Director for putting together such a dynamic cast. Thank you for this rare opportunity to play such fun, challenging characters. Our creative team of designers is stellar and their work deserves to be seen/heard. The storyline based on such disturbing, poignant, true events comments on our troubled, f-cked up world and speaks to a deep, sorrowful, empathetic place inside me, and hopefully, inside every audience member out there. Thank you Caridad, for bringing to light such eye-opening events with your poetic style. For our regular patrons, don't expect your typical twisted non-linear SOSE fare; Iphigenia is delivered with generous splashes of color, lightness and humor in an almost straight line. Well, actually a jagged line, "right on the breath". And with that, I'll see you all at the theatre. "Pulse, pulse, I go!"

Michelle, congratulations on the show. I've seen it a few times so far. It's certainly the most technically advanced production we've done. You created two really big characters and did a great job. It must be fun to work in such a bigger space. Feels more like regional theatre. And I wanted to see more film stuff. I think that's what I enjoyed the most, along with the music. I liked seeing the action on the screen and then live action behind and in front of it. Really cool. But you created two very different characters, both physically and vocally and it was very effective, especially in the first scene as the homeless profet/old slut bag dirty whore. Ha!

I'll be there again this weekend, along with Kendall and a few other friends.

P.S. I wish I knew the secret to get more people to come see theatre, esp here in La La Land.
