I have been negligent in my blogging duties lately and I feel like I have let down the cyber community. It really is an effort to come home after rehearsal and click away at my keys with any semblance of coherence but perhaps that is when revealing thoughts surface...
Tech rehearsals began last night and we didn't have lights ready to tech. However, we did a run-through for the stage manager to begin calling the show and for the actors to at least begin getting used to music/sound cues and the placement of light cues. The costumes are awesome and I am very happy with Laina Babb our designer. She took my ideas and thoughts about the play and created a very elegant style for the show. I can't wait to see the whole thing under lights with a completed set! Barbara's simple set design (simple, yet complex to paint and build!) has also created an elegant space in which the play exists.
I think the actors are in a good place and although this week I will be concentrating more on the tech we have the luxury of having another week of rehearsal after previews and before we open. Much work to do still...lights to focus, music to edit, musicians to record, costumes to adjust, staging to fix...
...and all will be done in the amount of time we have and no more ;-)
