Till opening. 22 till our first preview. A long distance to be travelled in an increasingly short period of time. We're starting to see glimpses though, moments of what P&F can and will be. There is a denseness, a complexity and an intricacy to this piece that I have never enountered before. The necessity to be singular and maintain your story, holding it close and keeping it alive, while at the same moment keeping an external awareness and connection to the other three members of the quartet and the notes they are playing. My respect for musicians has increased exponentially. How does your instrument sound, how do you move, what notes are you playing, what do you need, what piece are we playing? The normal acting questions that need to be answered with an additional layer of musical truth that needs to be present at all times. I have heard that work isn't fun and that only when you put in that hard work do you get to cross to the other side and enjoy; to have fun. It is wonderful when those moments happen. I had two today while driving and thinking about P&F and asking questions and then finding answers and because of that work I had that moment of joy. We are starting to have those and I see so many more on the horizon because of the work that everyone is doing. We'll see what tonight brings.
